Mispro's contract vivarium (CV) solution offers emerging, mid-sized, and even mature biopharma companies access to state-of-the-art vivarium research facilities and laboratory animal services for preclinical drug discovery and development. Our space plus services model enables founding scientists and research teams to keep in in vivo rodent studies in-house without having to incur the costs and operational complexities of internalizing a vivarium facility. In Mispro's research environments, scientists can focus on science, while we take care of the rest.
Whether you need vivarium space and services for all of your early-stage animal research studies, or extra space for an oversubscribed in-house vivarium, Mispro offers flexible and scalable options in our fully-managed and equipped vivarium facilities where you can conduct safe and reproducible preclinical research.

In 2003, two faculty scientists from McGill University introduced a new concept to the world of laboratory animal research – off-site vivarium space and animal care services that could support multiple research organizations in a single facility. Co-founders Drs. Richard Latt and Michel Tremblay named the concept the ‘Mouse Incubator Space Project’ (MISPRO) and Mispro's Montreal location became North America's first contract vivarium (CV) facility.
Today, Mispro is North America’s leading contract vivarium organization (CVO), offering a network of facilities in all major U.S. biotech clusters where biotech and biopharma companies of all sizes and therapeutic disciplines are pursuing innovative science to advance patient health.

Mispro is a Contract Vivarium (CV) which can be thought of as full-service coworking vivarium space. Mispro offers access to fully-managed and staffed vivarium research facilities where research organizations conduct their own rodent studies with the support of Mispro’s animal husbandry, veterinary, and regulatory and compliance oversight services.
Researchers can conduct biosafety level (BSL) I and biosafety level (BSL) II rodent studies that have been approved by Mispro’s IACUC. Learn more about the types of studies being done at our facilities by visiting the Science at Our Facilities page.
Mispro employs an Attending Veterinarian and a team of Clinical Veterinarians. The veterinarian team provides both institutional and on-location oversight and assurance that clients are adhering to study protocols, regulatory and compliance guidelines for animal research, and the humane and ethical treatment of research models. Veterinary oversight also includes regularly scheduled animal health checks and support and guidance for issues related to animal health.
The IACUC is a self-regulating entity that, according to U.S. federal law, must be established by institutions using vertebrate animals in research, instructional, training, outreach and display projects. The IACUC is responsible for assuring that live vertebrate animals are used and cared for in an ethical and humane manner and to ensure compliance with federally mandated rules and regulations. All studies must be reviewed and approved by the Mispro IACUC.
Yes, Mispro maintains a PHS Assurance and it can be utilized for NIH funding opportunities.
